Upcoming Projects and Performances · Saturday, January 30, 2010, 3pm: Schubertiade Chicago. Kara Kane and Mabel Kwan, piano, are part of PianoForte’s fifth annual Schubertiade festival performing some of Schubert’s best lieder: An Sylvia, Im Abendrot, Ganymed, Ellens zweiter Gesang and Suleika I. PianoForte Chicago, Fine Arts Building – Suite 825, 410 South Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL.. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This annual event highlights young artists to raise money for the Illinois Hunger Coalition. The program consists of a fresh mix of arias, duets, and popular German, French, Italian and American songs including classical, folk, musical theater and gospel styles. Kara serves as the MC for the night offering insight into the pieces, composers and artists. Past artists include Matthew Daniel, Monica Griffin, Erin Wall, Chris Thompson, Kate Newcomer, House of Daniel, Karim Sulayman, Celeste Rue and Nicole Franklin. Following the performance artists adjourn with the rest of the crowd for cocktails and a silent auction. The Illinois Hunger Coalition organization provides advocacy services to address hunger related policies and issues. In January 2005 IHC successfully petitioned and lobbied in Springfield, IL for hot breakfast service for thousands of impoverished children in Illinois schools.
